Rotegrity Sphere

Design and fabrication of 7 foot (2.1 m) diameter sphere for Terreform ONE. The wooden members have been optimized for 5-axis milling, and are cut from standard sheets (5’x5′) of 3/4” birch plywood with minimal waste. There are only three types of unique members, with 115 members in total (55 short, 55 long, 5 for the door). The sphere acts as the substructure for the Urban Farm Pod (Plug-In Ecology), and is lightweight, rigid, and easily assembled from flat-packed components.
